Hot weekend causes concern over high water

KAMLOOPS — It’s going to be a hot weekend in the Interior, but there are many concerns about the high water.

In the Okanagan, the Emergency Operations Centre would really like boaters to stay off the lake, or at the very least, keep it slow.

While Shuswap Lake isn’t at that level yet, it’s rising, and boaters should keep their wakes down near the shoreline.

Even with the cooler weather on Wednesday, Okanagan Lake rose above its record 1948 level of 343 metres yesterday and officials expect it to go higher as the upper level snow continues a rapid melt.
