RCMP investigate tire slashing spree in Brocklehurst

KAMLOOPS — More than a dozen residents of Brocklehurst woke up this morning to find their vehicles’ tires had been slashed.

Cpl. Cheryl Bush of Kamloops RCMP says it appears someone went on a rampage last night.

“Residents in the areas of Windbreak Street, Ponderosa Avenue, and Laroque Street were waking up to find tires on their vehicles damaged. So far our officers have responded to 12 incidents, and they are following up with investigational avenues,” said Bush.

“It appears this person was walking through the neighbourhood, and for whatever reason decided to do this property damage. It is very disappointing for the owners of these vehicles, I’m sure.”

One report on social media suggested the number of damaged vehicles could be as high as 25.

“This appears to be a non-targeted invent, but a clear act of mischief by someone with a senseless disregard for personal property,” said Bush.

Anyone who had their tires slashed, or who might have seen something suspicious overnight, is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP.

“It’s obviously something very senseless. These owners are left dealing with, first of all, the inconvenience of not being able to use their vehicle as expected when they woke up this morning, and the cost associated to it as well.”
