Police search for attempted robbery suspect

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP say a man tried to rob the 7-11 store in Sahali last night, and even though the clerk didn’t follow recommended procedure, it worked out in the end.

A man walked into the store at about 11:00 last night and demanded money.

Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says the clerk refused, and the robber took off.

Shelkie says if there is any threat of violence, RCMP always recommend employees cooperate with crooks.

“Whether you hear threats of violence or whether you actually see a weapon, always comply with what the robber requests for your safety,” said Shelkie.

“And then, to help the police, be the best witness you can be. Give us a really detailed description of what the person looked like and which direction they were heading after the robbery.”

The suspect is described as:

  • Race: First Nation
  • Height: 5’9″
  • Wearing: Blue bandana, black baseball hat, and a dark hoody

The suspect was noted to be missing his two front teeth.

Police say no weapon was produced, and no one was injured in the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at (250) 828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS)
