Another chilly, frustrating night for stranded Coquihalla Highway drivers

KAMLOOPS — It was another tough night for travellers on the Coquihalla Highway.

Both directions were closed Friday night between Hope and Merritt after numerous transport trucks lost control and spun out, leaving hundreds of motorists trapped in their vehicles.

The closures caused a huge traffic backup, just as it did the previous night when the highway was shutdown by freezing rain and heavy snow.

Southbound traffic was finally re-opened around 4 a.m, with northbound lanes opened cleared to traffic around 10:30 a.m.
