Trans Canada closures for avalanche control today

VERNON, B.C. — Heavy snow and numerous accidents shutdown the Coquihalla and Trans Canada highways last night for a few hours and travel won’t be much better today on either.

There are compact snow and slippery sections on all the mountain passes after up to 20 cm. fell last night.

There is a travel advisory out for the Trans Canada this morning as well.  Avalanche control will be taking place meaning the highway is being closed in both directions in a number of locations.

It is closed with now from the West Boundary of Glacier National Park to the East Boundary and will be until 1 p.m. this afternoon…there is no detour.
