KAMLOOPS — Harper Mountain is set to officially open Saturday.

Manager Norm Daburger says they’ve been busy grooming runs and making snow the past few weeks to prepare for the season opener, with current conditions better than ever.

“Mother nature’s been really friendly with us this year,” said Daburger. “The snow’s come in at certain intervals, the first few snowfalls were very warm which packed into a fantastic base and now the light fluffy stuff on top, it’s a great start.”

Eight runs on the west-side of the mountain will be open Saturday, with the hope to have all 16 accessible by Sunday.

Daburger says on top of skiing and snowboarding, the mountain also offers a number of fun kid-friendly activities for families to enjoy during the holiday season.

“We do offer night skiing and of course our tube park is always very popular through the holidays,” added Daburger. “We offer cross-country skiing, we set a track and we skate-ski for three kilometres and this year we’re introducing a lot more snowshoe trails, so we’re really excited about this year.”

Harper Mountain is open 9am to 4pm this weekend, with the resort open daily as of December 17.
