Growing need: Food Bank use increasing

KAMLOOPS — A new report from Food Banks Canada shows food bank usage in Canada, as well as specifically in BC, is at an all time high.

Bernadette Siracky of the Kamloops Food Bank says that is consistent with what is being seen in Kamloops.

Siracky says she’s encouraged to see the report look at the big picture with its recommendations.

“One of them being the approval of a national poverty reduction strategy. Another reccomondation is to look at a basic livable income. They are talking about the food and security in Northern Canada, which is at an extreme point,” said Siracky.
