IH issues warning after overdose spike in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — Interior Health has issued an overdose alert for Kamloops after five suspected illicit drug overdoses in the past 48 hours.

One of the suspected overdoses was fatal.

According to IH, the incidents all appear to be related to a certain powder.

The powder is sparkly and white, and is being sold as cocaine, but may not actually be cocaine.

IH is urging drug users to always use with someone else present, and to carry a naloxone kit.

The alert comes on International Overdose Awareness Day.
