Speed stop nets police 15 pounds of pot

BLUE RIVER, B.C. — RCMP in Clearwater say a speeding stop in a construction zone netted an unexpected surprise.

On May 25th, Mounties pulled over a vehicle near a construction zone on Highway 5 near Blue River.

In speaking to the driver, the officer determined there were drugs in the vehicle.

A search uncovered a full 15 pounds, or about seven kilograms of marijuana.

The driver is facing charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking, as well as the initial traffic offence.
