KAMLOOPS — This weekend is sure to be hopping at the Kamloops Food Bank. They’re preparing for the first of the bi-annual Rotary Food Drives of 2016, which is taking place tomorrow.

The food drive is an important event for the Food Bank. In the past the event has netted over 60,000 pounds of food (over 30 tonnes) which keeps the shelves stocked for months. Bernadette Siracky says it’s a hugely important event for the Food Bank.

“Each Food Drive gives up about three months worth of non-perishable product that we're able to give out to our clients, so they’re very necessary,” Siracky told CFJC Today.

The yellow bags will be picked up tomorrow morning, same as in years past, but there is one big change to this edition of the event: where the donations will be dropped off. Instead of taking place at Interior Vault, the donations will br dropped off at the Kamloops Food Bank headquarters, at 171 Wilson Street.

Siracky said “Just come right into the building, and we’ll register you as a volunteer and give you a job. We still need the same amount of help [at the Food Bank] as we did at Interior Vault.”
