KAMLOOPS — It was a busy morning for Kamloops Fire Rescue Friday.

They got called to a house fire in the 600 block of Alberni Ave. at approximately 1:50 a.m.

Fire Capt. Dave Ferguson said the fire appeared to have started on the back patio.

“When the police arrived there were flames showing, the back patio was fully engulfed and the fire had spread into the residence,” Ferguson said.

Ferguson said the fire was put out quickly, but fire crews remained on scene for quite some time.

“The exterior was knocked down very fast and then we did the interior attack and knocked that down, but we were there for quite a while extinguishing hot spots,” Ferguson said.

He said the cause of the fire is unknown, but it’s not considered suspicious.

Everyone managed to get out of the house safely and there were no reported injuries.
