KAMLOOPS — Federal Environment Minister Catherine McKenna may be paying a visit to the Kamloops area in the near future.

Skeetchestn Chief Ron Ignace says McKenna has sent local bands a letter, stating she’d like to hear their concerns about the proposed KGHM-Ajax mine.

“She wrote to us and said she is willing to meet with us, and that’s where it presently stands, now we need to determine the date that is mutually acceptable and we send that off, and we meet.” said Ignace.

Ignace adds the Skeetchestn and Tk’emlups councils will need to meet first to talk about what specific concerns to bring to McKenna.
