KAMLOOPS — A Victoria centenarian is being credited after she alerted staff at her senior’s home about a telephone scam.

According to police, the scam had already taken two other residents of the home before the woman notified staff about an aggressive phone call from someone claiming to be calling on behalf of the Canada Revenue Agency.

Once staff at the James Bay New Horizons Centre warned residents, they learned two had already fallen victim and lost hundreds of dollars.

Staff at the residence gathered funds to help cover the losses of those who fell victim to the scammer.
