Warnings over Fentanyl aren’t working

VANCOUVER — The awareness campaigns warning drug users to beware of fentanyl-laced drugs doesn’t seem to be working.

Police say too many people, especially in the Lower Mainland, are dying from drugs laced with the deadly synthetic opioid.

Fentanyl has been blamed for over 90 deaths in B.C. in the first 8 months of the year. Most of those deaths were at the Coast.

It has been found in heroin and cocaine, but is most often used after being pressed into pills and sold as counterfeit OxyContin.
