KAMLOOPS — Mounties in Kamloops are investigating what they believe was a targeted stabbing near the Overlanders Bridge Wednesday (Jan. 22) night.

Kamloops RCMP say they were called to Tranquille Road and Don Street around 10:15 p.m. to reports of a stabbing. They say officers found a man “with an injury consistent with a stab wound” when they got to the scene.

In a news release issued Thursday, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says the man was taken to Royal Inland Hospital by ambulance and is expected to recover.

“Luckily, a passerby found the victim in a bush and applied pressure to the injured area, while emergency responders were en route,” Evelyn said, in a statement.

“At this time, the assault is believed to be targeted. Little information is available related to the attacker, other than that the person was allegedly wearing a complete face mask. The attack also may have occurred in another location.”

Evelyn is asking people to check their security and dash cameras for any footage that could help further the investigation.

Anyone with information that may be related is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2025-2066.
