UPDATE: Single-lane of alternating traffic moving on Highway 5 east of Vavenby

VAVENBY B.C. — (UPDATE 1:15 p.m.): Highway 5 has reopened to a single lane of alternating traffic after a crash earlier Saturday (Jan. 11) morning.

DriveBC says crews are working on vehicle recovery on a 3.5-kilometre section of the highway between Skinner Rd. and the McMurphy pullout.

The next update is expected at 3:00 p.m. this afternoon.

ORIGINAL – Highway 5 is closed in both directions just east of Vavenby because of a crash Saturday (Jan. 11) morning.

Details are limited, but DriveBC says a 3.5-kilometre section of the highway between Skinner Rd. and the McMurphy pullout has been closed since about 8 a.m. Saturday.
