KAMLOOPS — A woman remains in custody after a vehicle reported as stolen was spotted at Northills Shopping Centre on Tranquille Road at around 7:20 p.m. Friday (Jan. 3).

Kamloops RCMP say officers laid a spike belt after the vehicle was found. In a news release issued Tuesday (Jan. 7), RCMP say a man and a woman ran away after attempting to continue to drive the vehicle onto Carson Crescent on the North Shore.

The man surrendered while the woman – who police say was also wanted on warrants – attempted to hide but was eventually found with the help of the Kamloops detachment’s police dog service.

The woman faces charges of possession of stolen property over $5,000, obstruction and flight from police. Her matters are before the courts. The man was released without process.
