Masks to be required once again in certain healthcare settings

KAMLOOPS — The Ministry of Health is updating the mask policy for healthcare facilities across BC, including in Kamloops and across Interior Health.

Due to the ongoing respiratory season, the ministry has updated its policy around hospitals and long-term care facilities, requiring patients and visitors to wear masks in some settings.

For visitors in acute care, masks will be required in all patient care areas, emergency departments and waiting rooms.

The policy also requires masks to be worn when directed by a healthcare worker during the provision of direct care.

In long-term care facilities, masks will not be required for visitors to a single resident, but will be required for indoor group activities or if visiting more than one resident.

CFJC News has reached out to the Ministry of Health for further details, but those were not available as of deadline.
