CLEARWATER B.C. — The Clearwater Library will be temporarily located at the Dutch Lake Community Centre so “significant” renovations at its current location can go ahead.

The library will be located at 209 Dutch Lake Road for about six months, starting at a yet to be determined date in late January. The existing library at 422 Murtle Crescent will be closed as of next Sunday, Dec. 29, to allow staff to make the 2.5 kilometre move.

Library patrons in the Clearwater-area are being told to hang on to any materials they may have until the temporary library has opened.

“As a reminder, the TNRL no longer collects fines for overdue library materials,” a statement from the Thompson-Nicola Regional Library (TNRL) said.

“At the temporary library location, many TNRL services will be unchanged. Hours of operation will remain the same, programming will continue, and the full suite of online resources will continue without interruption, including eBooks, audiobooks, and research tools.”

There will also be a small book drop inside the Dutch Lake Community Centre. A reduced collection of materials will also be available, the TNRL said.

The Clearwater Library renovation – which will include “needed exterior improvements and modernized interior spaces” – is expected to be complete in July 2025.

“We greatly appreciate the understanding of our library patrons during this temporary move,” TNRL Manager of Community Libraries & Engagement Melissa Lowenberg said.

“We look forward to the results of this project which will be an improved library space for residents in Clearwater.”
