KAMLOOPS — Four different schools emerged victorious as another edition of the Fulton Cup in Kamloops has come to an end.

The annual city high school basketball championships saw a number of big-school-versus-small-school matchups that aren’t otherwise possible as the teams compete in different divisions based on the size of the student body.

In the senior girls division, the Sa-Hali Sabres beat the South Kamloops Titans 93-34 in Friday’s championship game.

The Sabres are currently ranked second in the province, while the Titans, who are seeded seventh in B.C., are reigning AAA Girls’ B.C. High School Basketball bronze medalists.

In the senior boys division, the Westsyde Whundas – who are ranked fifth in B.C. in the AA division – emerged victorious with a 101-54 win over the Sa-Hali Sabres Friday.

The South Kamloops Titans, who finished third with a 75-58 win over the NorKam Saints – were given an honourable mention in the AAA rankings.

Over in the junior girls division, the Valleyview Vikes beat the South Kamloops Titans 47-34, while the NorKam Saints beat the Sa-Hali Sabres 76-62 to win the junior boys’ division.

A total of 10 schools were represented across the junior and senior divisions this year – South Kamloops, Valleyview, NorKam, Westsyde, Sa-Hali, St. Ann’s, Brocklehurst, Barriere, Chase and Kamloops Christian School.
