Fatal collision near Ashcroft Sunday under investigation
ASHCROFT, B.C. — Ashcroft RCMP are investigating a single motor vehicle accident that took place on December 1, that took the lives of two people.
RCMP report emergency crews responded at approximately 10:15 p.m. on Sunday to the accident in the 1900-block of the Trans Canada Highway.
In the news release, media relations officer, Cpl. James Grandy wrote that “Upon arrival, the driver and two passengers associated with an SUV were located. The driver and one of the two passengers succumbed to injuries they’d sustained, and were pronounced deceased at the scene. The second passenger was located outside the vehicle with serious, life threatening injuries. This passenger was taken to the area hospital.”
Grandy also explained that with the evidence collected thus far suggests the vehicle was travelling far above the speed limit when it veered right off the road, striking a culvert and overturning.
