January 31, 1946– November 25, 2024   

It is with great sadness that the family of Catherine Giorio announces her passing on Monday, November 25, 2024, at the age of 78. She passed away peacefully at Overlander Extended Care, surrounded by her loved ones. 

Catherine Giorio was born on January 31, 1946, in Edmonton, AB, to Maurice and Veleda Malcolm. She grew up throughout Alberta and British Columbia. 

She held many jobs throughout her life, including teaching Sunday school, bookkeeping, working for the government, and serving at the Child Development Centre. Catherine was known for her big heart, walking her grandchildren to school, and her generosity in helping family and friends. 

Catherine was predeceased by her husband, Alfredo B. Giorio. She is survived by her two brothers, Maurice Jr. (Mick) and Perry (Colleen) Malcolm; her two sons, Tim (Betty) and Shane (Kristin) Giorio; and her beloved grandchildren, Lucas and Jacob Kirk, and Cameron and Ainslie Giorio. 

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Overlander Extended Care and Dr. Mavis Hollman for their exceptional and compassionate care. 

Catherine Giorio will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and her big heart will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
