THE TATTLE OF HASTINGS: Matonovich back on track

KAMLOOPS — Raiya Matonovich is ranked No. 1 in the country.

The 17-year-old runner from Kamloops clocked in at two minutes, six seconds and 44 milliseconds in the 800-metre this past summer.

It’s the fastest time posted this year in Canada by a female under the age of 18 in the middle-distance event.

Matonovich recorded that mark while struggling with lingering effects from her bout with Graves’ disease.
