Council approves North Shore access hub shelter, shortens permit to 20 months
KAMLOOPS — After a marathon session hearing from members of the public, Kamloops council has approved a temporary use permit for a North Shore shelter.
The permit for the access hub shelter at 142 Tranquille Road was approved by a 7-1 vote, with only Mayor Reid Hamer-Jackson opposed.
Hamer-Jackson was not in favour of a ‘wet’ shelter — meaning the low-barrier nature would provide beds for those regardless of their sobriety.
