Kamloops RCMP aiming to ‘Stuff the Cruiser’ with toys for families this holiday season

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP will be on the lookout for toys, gift cards and cash this weekend.

Officers, volunteers and Sgt. Safety Bear will be parked outside the Toys R Us store in Lower Sahali Saturday (Nov. 30) from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for the Kamloops detachment’s annual Stuff the Cruiser event.

In a news release, RCMP say items received on Saturday will be delivered to Christmas Amalgamated, which will sort and deliver them to families throughout the city.

“Coming out to drop off a gift, or even just to say hello, is a great way for the community to help spread holiday cheer,” Cpl. Dana Napier says. “We’ve been holding this event for a number of years now and every year, we’re just so impressed by the generosity of those in the community.”

RCMP say last year’s Stuff the Cruiser collected nearly $8,000 of items that were distributed to local kids and teens through holiday hampers.

Anyone who would like to contribute, but is unable to attend Saturday’s Stuff the Cruiser, can drop unwrapped donations off at the North Shore Community Policing Office on 915 Seventh St. from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed from noon to 1:00 p.m.
