KAMLOOPS — Christmas Amalgamated is set up for another season of charitable giving, putting together clothing, toys and meal hampers for families in need.

CFJC dropped by the headquarters in the Cooper Centre and caught up with organizer Sally Whitson. This year, the local effort wants to help out 2,000 families in the Kamloops region with food for a holiday meal and gifts.

“Actually, I’m finding that with my gift baskets, I’m always short on makeup. With the gifts, we went through all of our recreational balls last year — soccer balls and basketballs, that kind of thing,” notes Whitson, “Toys for boys are the hardest (to find), and gifts for babies.”

Volunteers are busy setting up and taking registrations for new and returning clients.

“I’m surprised that some years, when things get really rough, people figure that the help isn’t out there and they don’t even bother to go ask,” Whitson says, when asked how busy it might get. “You just never know what’s going to happen.”

Christmas Amalgamated says its phone line won’t be activated until November 20 (250-376-0777), and in the meantime, registration and item drop-off can be done in-person at 780 Windsor Avenue, Unit 203, in the front side of the Cooper Centre.

Mail is not accepted at this location, but it is accepted at the following address:
