KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Mounties are asking for the public’s help in identifying a person who allegedly rammed a truck into a police car.

In a release, Kamloops RCMP say around 12:35 a.m. on November 2, an officer was patrolling along the 200-block of Tranquille Road and she recognized an older model, white Ford F150 pickup truck that was suspected in two prior investigations. Those incidents involving failure to remain at the scene of a collision and flight from police.

When the officer initially spotted the suspected vehicle, it was unoccupied, but when a man returned to the truck, the officer began to conduct a traffic stop.

“Unfortunately, the driver did not stop and instead rammed an unmarked police vehicle in front of him, then sped through the parking lot, southbound onto Briar Avenue,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn states in the release. “Luckily, the officer in the vehicle was uninjured.”

Police did obtain surveillance video of the suspect and are releasing an image to the public in hopes someone can identify who he is.
