SUN PEAKS, B.C. — Officials at Sun Peaks say they don’t have quite enough snow for their planned winter opening this weekend.
In a news release issued Tuesday (Nov. 16), the resort says an opening to winter sports enthusiasts has been pushed back a week, from November 16 to Saturday, November 23.
There is snow on the ground with a reported base of 45 centimetres and further snowmaking is underway. However, the resort says the mountain received slightly warmer temperatures over the past week, forcing the decision to postpone the opening.
Temperatures are forecast to cool in the coming week and Sun Peaks officials are confident in their new opening date.
