Marilyn Claire Burke (née Lang) was born on May 1, 1949, in Nelson, British Columbia, as the youngest of Joseph Philip Lang and Evelyn’s (née Parker) seven children. She passed away in Kamloops, B.C., on November 5, 2024. Marilyn was educated at St. Joseph’s School in Nelson and developed a love for sewing, even crafting her own beautiful wedding dress. She was a devoted long-time parishioner at St. John Vianney, where she was a founding member of the choir and continued to find joy in music throughout her life.
After both were widowed, Marilyn and her older sister Elaine shared many adventures together, enjoying travel and companionship. Marilyn was predeceased by her son, Michael; her beloved husband, Raymond; and her oldest sister, Elaine. She is survived by her son, Christopher; her sister, Diane; her brothers, Phil (Elizabeth), Dan (Maryanne), Art (Patricia), and Bruce (June); her dear friend Patti and her family; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Prayers will be held on Friday, November 8 at 7:00 p.m., followed by a funeral mass on Saturday, November 9, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Vianney Parish – 2826 Bank Rd., Kamloops, B.C. V2B 6Y5. Interment at Hillside Cemetery Mausoleum will take place on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Marilyn’s memory.
