Kamloops to receive Remembrance Day fly-past from 410 Squadron CF-18 jets

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops residents can look to the sky this Remembrance Day, as the city is going to have an official military flyover this year.

An official military fly past wasn’t originally on the agenda. Last year marked the final fly over from the 419 ‘Moose’ Squadron, which underwent changes to its programming and the jets used by its pilots.

However, according to Royal Canadian Legion Branch 52 President, Daniel Martin, the city can expect to see CF-18 jets flying overhead as part of the Remembrance Day ceremony.

Martin says he has been notified that Squadron 410 from Cold Lake, AB will be coming to the city on November 10 for the City’s Remembrance Day dinner event, and conducting a fly by the next morning.

“On November 11, there will be a fly by at the Cenotaph with two CF-18’s. They will be flying over the City of Kamloops, and they’re going to go after that, to Westwold,” explains Martin, “We’re so thrilled, and so happy that they would take the time, because they’re very busy with training and everything else, to come down to Kamloops and have a fly by. We feel extremely lucky because there’s not that many cities in Canada that have a chance to have a fly by on November 11.”

The City’s Remembrance Day ceremony will be held at the Riverside Park cenotaph on Monday, Nov. 11, starting around 10:45 a.m.

CFJC will be airing live coverage of the Kamloops Remembrance Day ceremony, broadcasting from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Monday, November 11. The ceremony can also be live streamed on CFJC Today.com.
