Lumby murder case to go be tried by judge and jury

VERNON — The man accused of second-degree murder in Lumby has opted for a trial by judge and jury.

The B.C. Prosecution Service confirmed Vitali Stefanski appeared in Vernon court Wednesday, Oct. 31, to formally enter an election for a trial before a Supreme Court judge and jury. His trial will also involve a preliminary inquiry.

Stefanski will be back in court on Nov. 6, where he will meet with a judicial case manager to schedule a pretrial conference.

A trial date had not been set as of time of publication.
