Three WolfPack soccer players given year-end honours for 2024

KAMLOOPS — A trio of Thompson Rivers University (TRU) WolfPack soccer players earned year-end honours from Canada West in 2024.

Fourth-year centre back Raiya Rumo was named a Canada West First Team All-Star for women’s soccer for the second consecutive season.

“To get two back-to-back First Team All-Stars is just a testament to her ability and what she’s brought to our team,” Mark Pennington, WolfPack women’s soccer head coach, states. “She’s obviously going to be missed moving forward but there’s no doubt that she has helped propel the program to where it is and move us in the right direction.”

Also on the WolfPack women’s side, first-year midfielder Juli La Rotta was named to the Canada West All-Rookie team for women’s soccer. The winger scored three goals and started in 10 of the 12 matches she suited up for in 2024.

The WolfPack women’s soccer team finished the 2024 season with four wins, eight losses, and two draws. It was good for 14 points in 14 matches. The WolfPack finished sixth in the Pacific Division, seven points out of the fourth and final playoff spot.

In men’s soccer, a first-year defender was named to the Canada West All-Rookie team for 2024.

Marcus D’Andrea started all 16 matches and played more than 1,300 minutes for the WolfPack in 2024.

“He’s a player that shows great consistency, is technically sound and great at defending one-on-one. He sees the game really well and just works non-stop,” John Antulov, WolfPack men’s soccer head coach, states. “He trains the way he plays, wants to learn and wants to get better everyday, so I think the ceiling for Marcus is huge.”

The WolfPack men’s soccer team finished the 2024 season with two wins, 12 losses, and two draws. It was good for a 0.167 win percentage, tied with the University of Northern British Columbia for the bottom in the Pacific Division.
