KAMLOOPS — Barriere mayor Ward Stamer is an MLA-elect.
Stamer, running for the Conservatives, got a comfortable victory Saturday (Oct. 19) over the NDP’s Maddi Genn, garnering 60 per cent of the ballots to Genn’s 33 per cent.
Green candidate Tristan Cavers garnered about eight per cent of the ballots cast.
Stamer, who went on leave as the mayor of Barriere during the campaign, has said he will step down if elected as MLA for Kamloops-North Thompson, which would trigger a by-election.
