Officers assaulted, spat on during arrest of intoxicated teen: Kamloops RCMP
KAMLOOPS — A spokesperson for the Kamloops RCMP detachment says two officers were assaulted in the course of arresting a teenager for public intoxication Wednesday (Oct. 16).
In a news release, Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says police were called at about 6:30 p.m. to check on the well-being of an intoxicated youth. Officers caught up with the teen near Holt Street and Sunnycrest Avenue in Brocklehurst.
“The youth allegedly became combative and assaulted two police officers, using physical force and spitting directly in one’s face,” said Evelyn, who says the obstinance continued when the teen was lodged in cells to sober up.
Eventually, the teen was released with a court date and conditions related to the assaultive behaviour.
