Bert Edwards students engage in annual Rivers Day festivities
KAMLOOPS– September 22 is Rivers Day in B.C. Although that day has come and gone, Bert Edwards Science and Tech School holds its own event to celebrate each year.
Students from kindergarten to Grade 12 make their way down to the North Thompson River to participate in various activities — a way to promote conservation and help kids learn about the river and land they live on.
“Students are at stations throughout the morning and they have hands-on learning experiences with water and any event that has to do with water. It’s really great to see,” said Bert Edwards teacher Lise-Marie Duquette. “We’ve invited many different people from the community to tell us about what they do and how the water and the rivers help their employment.”
