Lafreniere, Finnie notch two goals apiece, but Blazers fall to Giants in high-scoring affair

LANGLEY, B.C. — The Vancouver Giants prevailed 8-6 over the Kamloops Blazers in WHL action on Friday (Oct. 4) in Langley.

Tommy Lafreniere opened his major-junior goal scoring account, scoring twice for the Blazers in a losing effort.

Emmitt Finnie returned from his stint with the Detroit Red Wings and notched two goals for Kamloops on the same day he was named the 38th team captain in franchise history.

Max Sullivan and Nathan Behm (his fifth goal in three games) also tallied for the Blazers, whose starting netminder, Logan Edmonstone, was chased early in the second period after allowing four goals on 21 shots.

Dylan Ernst allowed three goals on 25 shots in relief.

Former Blazer Connor Levins had two goals for the Giants, as did Aaron Obobaifo.

Mazden Leslie, Kyren Gronick and Ty Halabudra and Jakob Oreskovic added singles for the home team.

The Blazers dropped to one win and three losses on the season and will wrap their weekend road trip with a game against the Wild (2-1-1-0) on Sunday (Oct. 6) in Wenatchee.

Vancouver improved to 3-1.
