Weekend for Kamloops RCMP includes fatal collision, impaired driving through Brocklehurst and machete seizure

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP responded to approximately 372 calls for service from Friday, Sept. 27 to 9:00 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 30, 2024. Below are some incidents police attended.

Fatal motorcycle collision

A man passed away after a single-vehicle collision in Aberdeen.

Officers responded to the 1600-block of Aberdeen Drive near Crosshill Drive at around 1:10 a.m. Sunday where Kamloops Fire Rescue were on scene for a fatal motorcycle collision involving a man in his 30s.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has information or video related to it is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP.

Impaired driving collision

A woman lost her license for 90 days and had her vehicle impounded after driving through multiple properties in Brocklehurst.

Officers responded to Happyvale Avenue at around 1:30 a.m. Sunday where a woman in a truck reportedly drove through three fences and some garden planters before striking a tree.

RCMP say officers ordered for a roadside breath sample, but the woman refused, which carries the same penalty as providing a sample that exceeds .08.

The woman was arrested and held in custody to sober up. A man on scene was also arrested for obstruction.

Machetes sticking out

RCMP say an officer patrolling the area of McGowan Avenue and Aspen Street at around 1:00 p.m. Sunday noticed a man riding a bike without a helmet and two machetes sticking out of his backpack.

The man was arrested and was found carrying the machetes, four knives, suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine.

The man was issued a ticket for cycling without wearing a helmet under the Motor Vehicle Act, and the were seized for destruction.
