One person killed in two-vehicle crash east of Canoe

SALMON ARM, B.C. — A person was killed, and two others were sent to hospital after a two-vehicle collision in the Shuswap.

Salmon Arm RCMP say officers were told of the collision on the Trans Canada Highway nearly five kilometres east of Canoe at 2:39 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 1).

Initial police investigation suggests a Toyota minivan crossed the centre line and collided with a Toyota pickup truck. BC Ambulance was scene and told police the driver and lone occupant of the minivan was deceased while the two occupants in the pickup were sent to hospital with minor injuries.

DriveBC announced the stretch of Highway 1 reopened at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash camera video from the area is asked to contact Salmon Arm RCMP at 250-832-6044.
