Newman of Kamloops hits scoresheet for Royals in victory over hometown Blazers

KAMLOOPS — Reggie Newman of Kamloops had an empty-net goal and an assist for the Victoria Royals in a 5-2 victory over the Kamloops Blazers in WHL action on Saturday (Sept. 28) at Sandman Centre.

Cosmo Wilson, Nolan Stewart, Tanner Scott and Cole Reschny also scored for the Royals (3-0-1-0), whose goaltender, Jayden Kraus, made 41 saves to pick up the victory between the pipes.

Nathan Behm (his fourth goal in two games) and Oren Shtrom tallied for Kamloops (1-2-0-0) in support of netminder Dylan Ernst, who made 32 saves in a losing effort.

The Blazers will play next on Friday (Oct. 4), when they travel to Langley for a game against the Vancouver Giants.
