Lillooet Hospital ER shutters for third time in five days due to limited physician availability

The emergency department at Lillooet Hospital and Health Centre will be closed until 8 a.m. on Sunday (Sept. 29).

Interior Health issued a media release at 5:01 p.m. on Saturday (Sept. 28) to note the temporary closure would begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday (Sept. 28).

Patients can access care at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops.

All other inpatient services will continue as normal at Lillooet Hospital.

People in the community who need life-threatening emergency care (for ailments such as chest pains, difficulty breathing and severe bleeding) can call 9-1-1 for transport to the nearest available and appropriate facility.

The Lillooet emergency department closed on Thursday (Sept. 26) for 37 hours and overnight Tuesday.
