KAMLOOPS — There is word Tuesday (Sept. 24) of major changes at one of the longest running newsrooms in the B.C. Interior.

According to a social media post, the majority of the newsroom staff at Radio NL in Kamloops have been told they are losing their jobs.

The post was made by NL talk show host Brett Mineer.

Sources say staff have been told the station plans to go to an all-music format with the exception of Kamloops Blazers broadcasts, which will be maintained.

CHNL launched in 1970 and was under local ownership until 2017, when it was purchased by Newcap. In 2018, Newcap was acquired by Stingray Digital.

CFJC Today has messages in to Stingray seeking confirmation and comment.
