KAMLOOPS — A Kamloops man who’s been missing for more than two weeks has been found dead.

RCMP say the body of 41-year-old Michael Scott was found in a rural area of Kamloops on Friday (Sept. 20).

In a news release issued Tuesday (Sept. 24) morning, police say Southeast District Major Crime Unit is determining whether Scott’s death is the result of foul play.

“At this time, there is nothing to suggest that a threat to the public exists” S/Sgt. Jason Smart states.

Scott was reported missing on Sept. 7 after last being seen by family during the early morning hours of Sept. 3 in his 2017 blue Dodge Ram pickup. His truck was found near the Red Bridge on Sept. 5. RCMP say two people were in the truck when police found it.

Scott’s wife, Tasnim Zarin Azmayen, spoke to CFJC Today on Sept. 13 and mentioned how he was struggling mentally and physically after losing his business during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Investigators are asking anyone with video from the Strawberry Hill area from Sept. 3 to Sept. 20, 2024, to contact the Southeast District Major Crime Unit Tip Line at 1‐877‐987‐8477.
