Pride rally held in Kamloops in response to anti-2SLGBTQIA+ protests
KAMLOOPS – Many members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community gathered outside the Kamloops courthouse with signs, flags and bright colours Friday (Sept. 20). The event was organized as a counter-protest and solidarity rally in response to anti-2SLGBTQIA+ protests happening across Canada.
“In response, we gathered to show that hate is not welcome in Canada,” said organizer Eliana Baboiu of the Kamloops Pride Society. “We also gather to show support for all queer and trans youth that despite having unaccepting families, they can still find a community with us here.“
The rally was not only organized in response to anti-2SLGBTQIA+ protests but also had allies urging support for students and the community struggling with their sexuality.
