BARRIERE, B.C. — Residents are asked to be on the lookout for a missing senior from Barriere.

In a post to social media, Barriere Search and Rescue (SAR) confirms it has been called in to assist the RCMP in searching for the woman. In another social media post, the senior is identified as Gailen Conan.

In a news release issued Saturday morning, Barriere RCMP say Conan is a 78-year-old white woman who stands 5’8″ and weighs 186 lbs. She has hazel eyes and blonde hair.

Conan is described as a senior citizen with dementia. She was reportedly last seen at around 7:30 a.m. Friday (Aug. 30) when she went to do chores on her farm on Dunn Lake Road. She drives a white, older model four-door Chevrolet Impala with B.C. license plate 747 K1S.

In an update Saturday morning, the Chu Chua Volunteer Fire Department says it’s been confirmed that Conan was last seen driving south past the Barriere laundromat at 5:53 a.m. Friday.

Barriere SAR asks anyone who spots Conan to not approach her and to instead call them at 778-220-9194 or Barriere RCMP at 250-672-9918.

This is a developing story, and more information will be provided once it’s available.
