Kamloops man arrested on theft, obstruction, and breach charges
KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP have arrested a man facing half a dozen charges related to stolen property, obstruction, and failing to comply with a court order.
The arrest stems from an initial report of suspected mischief. On Sunday, Aug. 18, just around 7:30 p.m., officers responded to a property along Curlew Road for a report involving a person with a screwdriver and a truck. Police then confirmed the truck had been reported stole from Cammeray Drive two days prior.
“While officers were investigating, the truck left the parking lot and police continued to follow it onto Lorne Street, where it was abandoned by its driver and a foot pursuit was engaged,” states Cpl. Crystal Evelyn with Kamloops RCMP, “With the assistance of the Police Dog Service Unit, a suspect was taken into custody shortly after.”
Kirklen Gregory Petkau-Desjardin, age 29, is now facing six charges for offences including possession of stolen property over $5,000, obstructing police, prohibited driving, and failure to comply with a court order.
