KAMLOOPS– Sunday was the final day of Pride Week in Kamloops.

The day started with the sixth annual Pride Parade through the downtown core, a staple during a week which many express inclusivity and diversity.

“The Pride Parade this year was amazing,” said Alyssa Christianson, president of Kamloops Pride Society. “We had a full parade with over 50 entries and a ton of community participants. We were set up bright and early before nine in the morning and the parade was great. Everyone was so energetic, and it was really fun to be in and watch.”

When the parade was finished, many went to Riverside Park to participate in the Kamloops Pride Festival.

The celebration included live music, local artists and people enjoying the festivities.

“It’s really amazing to see people dressing up, wearing rainbows, carrying their favourite flags around,” Christianson said. “It just makes the park feel so welcoming, all decorated. We don’t even have to decorate the park much because everyone decorates the park for us with their rainbows and with their colours.”
