Merritt’s emergency room subject to 25-hour closer beginning Saturday morning

MERRITT, B.C. — Merritt residents have another emergency room closure on the way.

In an email distributed to media Friday evening (Aug. 23), Interior Health says the emergency department at Nicola Valley Hospital will be closed starting at 7:00 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 24). It is expected to reopen on Sunday at 8:00 a.m.

The reason provided for the closure is limited physician availability.

Those in need of emergency care Saturday are urged to call 9-1-1 or visit the emergency department at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops.
