KAMLOOPS — A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for most of B.C.’s southern interior Friday (Aug. 23).
Environment Canada’s severe thunderstorm watch covers the Fraser Canyon, Nicola, Shuswap and South Thompson regions.
Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
Environment Canada says lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Residents are asked to go indoors if they hear thunder.
