MERRITT, B.C. — An elderly man who was missing for several days after falling down an embankment in the Nicola Valley was rescued Thursday (Aug. 23) afternoon.

In a post to social media Friday morning, Kamloops Search and Rescue (KSAR) says its rope team leaders were called at around 4:00 p.m. Thursday to assist Nicola Valley Search and Rescue at Spius Creek. The elderly man had a broken hip and back injuries, and was sent to hospital after the medevac landed on a sandbar in the river.

Then at 8:00 p.m., KSAR says its crews were asked to support their Nicola Valley neighbours again with an ATV rollover north of Nicola Lake. The patients were then handed off to BC Emergency Health Services.
