BC Wildlife Park prepares for busy fall after slight dip in attendance due to heat

KAMLOOPS– The BC Wildlife Park has had a busy summer as they continue to welcome residents from all over Kamloops. However, the intense heat in early July has had its effect, resulting in fewer visitors to begin the season.

“It’s been a pretty good season. Attendance-wise, we lost a bit with the heat, so we’re under budget, but it’s clawing back,” Jorrit Koedooder, the BC Wildlife Park’s facilities and operations manager, “It’s been really good since it’s cooled off, and as long as it stays nice and the smoke stays away, we should be alright for the rest of the year.”

If you do stop by and visit the animals on a hot and sunny day the park has some tips to make sure you can still spot them as they look for shady areas to stay cool.

“Like people, they tend to hide and try to find cool spaces. If it’s really hot chances are they’re going to be somewhere that’s a little bit harder to see. Early in the morning is always a better time to come to the park and see them.” Koedooder adds.

There are plenty of events and daily activities planned for the park this upcoming fall season, and they will continue to operate until the middle of October.
